The origins of Rutherford and Company go back to the middle of the 18th century when the family acquired a tavern just off the High Street in Edinburgh. History tells us that.

'Kindly Mrs Rutherford's tavern in Craig's Close was favoured by the merchants who congregated at the Mercat Cross to discuss business'. Amongst her regulars was Robert Burns, with whom the family has some intriguing connections.

Rutherford & Company was established in Edinburgh in 1834 as shippers of the finest wines and ports and producers of exceptionally smooth whiskies and for many years was one of the principal merchants in that city.

Since 1969 the company has specialised in the production of Traditional Ceramic Whisky Flagons and today we offer an unrivalled and comprehensive range of Ceramic Decanters and Miniatures containing some of the most interesting and unusual of whiskies. This combinations of Fine Old Whiskies and Handcrafted Flagons of traditional design is unbeatable and today Rutherford's markets have stretched far from the narrow streets of Old Edinburgh to the shores of the Americas and the Orient.
